Iraq has witnessed a new bloodbath that killed more than 127 dead and injured in a series of car bomb explosions in different areas, mostly in southern Iraq. The two car bombs exploded in the cities of Kut and Al Aziziyah located in Wasit province, south of Baghdad, while four cars exploded in Dhi Qar and Basra, and the other in the holy city of Najaf. The car bombing resulted in the industrial district north of the city of Kut (170 km south-east of Baghdad), the destruction of Café “Hdhan” one of the city’s oldest cafes, which was founded in the seventies of the last century. In Basra (450 km) south of Baghdad, killing five people, including an explosives expert with the rank of colonel in the police, in the explosion of two car bombs downtown, according to the head of the security committee in the provincial council Ali Ghanim al-Maliki. In Nasiriyah (305 km) south of Baghdad, two car bombs exploded one in Habboubi Street’s most prestigious streets of the city, killing two people and wounding 35 others, according to a medical source in the health department of the province.
In Mahmoudiya (30 km) south of Baghdad killed one person and wounded five others were injured in a car bomb parked on the main road near spend Mahmudiya, according to security and medical sources. In Najaf (160 km) south of Baghdad, one person was killed and 14 others were injured in a car bomb blast in a market to sell vegetables in the oil district of northern Najaf, according to security and medical sources. In the cities (25 km) south of Baghdad, one person was killed and seven others were injured in a car bomb explosion near the headquarters of the army, according to security and medical sources.
